PFL DVD RELEASE & TRYOUTS COMPETITION Fri. Jan. 12/07 The Mod Club - 722 College St. Toronto, Ontario, Canada Cover: $12
About The PFL The Pillow Fight League (PFL) leads the way as the most exciting and innovative new wave in sports entertainment. Featuring strong female combatants, the PFL is engaged in the unprecedented whip-action attack of pillow fighting. Not just for the slumber-party sleepover anymore, these women are serious brawlers - armed with beauty, brains and a nasty disposition. The contests are fast-paced and furious, with flying feathers and hard-hitting moves. There are various ways to win a match, with a referee always on hand to keep the hair-pulling and scratching to a minimum.
The Past The Pillow Fight League was founded in February 2004 by PFL Commissioner Stacey P. Case, and Honorary PFL Commissioner Craig Daniels. Two live events using the original concept of the PFL were held - New Year's Eve 2004 and 2005 - with performers from Canadian burlesque troupe “Skin Tight Outta Sight” as the fighters. New Year's Eve 2005 featured the first instance of live audience tryouts. The two gals who fought tore each other apart. THIS was the true birth of the Pillow Fight League.
The Present After months of tryouts and training, the PFL now has a full roster of female fighters. The first live PFL Event, PFL1 in May 2006, was witnessed by a sellout crowd of over 300 fight fans. The PFL has been featured in TV, radio, and print media nationally and internationally. Recent media coverage includes The Toronto Star, The Toronto Sun, The National Post, CBC National Radio, Q107 FM, Rogers Sportsnet, CITY-TV, Ed's Night Party, and Playboy Radio. PFL2 took place on Thursday June 22 at 1032 Queen St. West (Toronto). PFL3 was at The Courthouse, Toronto on Thursday, August 17th, 2006.
The Future Make sure to read the Official PFL Blog to keep on top of all the latest developments.

The WSA is having a meeting at 3 Below, the restaurant next to the movie theatre, on Monday Jan. 15th. The main objective of the meeting is to get everyone together to talk about the rebuilding of the ramps down in the underground. We have ordered the skatelite for the resurfacing of the bowl (which cost $4,500) and it will be arriving next week. We would like to put a call out to any interested skilled builders for the resurfacing and expansion of the park. As well, we will be talking about our next fundraiser/event among other things. So come on out and support Skateboarding in Whislter.

Whistler Skateboar Association
and the Longhorn present to you a Skateboard Rail jam
Contest/ Fundraiser.
On Thursday, September 28, 2006,
The Whistler Skateboard Association will be holding a fundraiser event
at the Longhorn Saloon in Whistler. We will be setting up scaffolding
on the patio and creating a street-style rail/ledge setup where skaters
will be able to perform tricks on the obstacles and down the stairs.
There will be two hours where the ramp is open for the public to have
fun on (5pm to 7pm), and then in the evening (7pm to 9pm) we will be
hosting a full-on competition where skaters will be competing for cash
and prizes. As well, there will be live music and other stuff going on
got anyone who comes to hang out and support the Whistler Skateboard
Association, a non-profit community driven group formed to help take
care of some of the many skateboard related issues in Whistler,
especially the underground skatepark in Creekside. After the
competition, there will be the video premiere of The Peanut Gallery, a
locally produced skateboard film, and then the party will continue all
night. This event will go on rain or shine, we have planned for tents
and coverings for the ramps and of course, everyone can hang out
inside, listen to live music and, of course, have a great
time. We will be having three main
categories of first-place prizes, with a $200 cash prize given to the
skater who performs the best trick on the rail, on the ledges, and down
the set of stairs, each. In addition to the cash prizes, we will be
giving away lots of gear to the skaters for second and third places, as
well as give-aways.. As well, there will be tons of shwag give-aways
for the crowd, as well as raffles for some higher ticket items such as
complete skateboards from the local shops.
Some of the supporters of this
event are Longhorn Saloon, UnderExposed Media Group, Nomis Clothing,
Westbeach the shop, Evolution, Katmandu, Red Bull, Gauge Clothing,
SkateboardVillage.com and Ogio Bags.
