YOU ARE READY!

Start 12. Mai 2008

BESTTRICK.COM skateboard

Playboard Magazin
King of S.K.A.T.E
The first online S.K.A.T.E.-event everybody can enter.

Redo a trick of Mizurov & Co. every week and upload it as a video.

Weekly prizes for the best redone trick - judged by an active voting.

2.500 EUR cash + an exclusive Interview in the Titus Magalog for the King of S.K.A.T.E!

Start 12. Mai 2008

How it works:

  1. A new trick, that must be redone, is presented by a top skater every Monday.
  2. You have seven days to redo, film, and upload the trick on www.king-of-skate.com. An upload countdown on www.king-of-skate.com will announce the time left.
  3. All tricks must be done on flat ground!
  4. If you land the trick, you are moving on to next round.
  5. As soon as you don't upload the trick within seven days, the trick is not clearly visible or not landed properly (hand or foot touches the ground, no clean rolling away), you will recieve a letter.
  6. If that happens to you five times and you complete the word S.K.A.T.E., you are out of the race.
  7. To become the King of S.K.A.T.E, you have to survive the whole starter field and be the last competitor left.
  8. You can enter the competition until the fifth week, but you will get a letter for every so far completed trick. If you enter in the third week, there will already be two completed tricks. Therefore you recieve the letters S and K, but you still have the chance to become the King of S.K.A.T.E. and win 2.500,- EUR cash + an exclusive interview in the Titus Magalog.
  9. The weekly prize is yours, when you get the highest rating for your landed trick after the upload closure on Sunday evening. Furthermore you will be mentioned as winner of the week in the playboard.de news.
  10. The landad tricks can be rated without exception by all registered BESTTRICK-users. Independent of the fact if they are entering the competition or not.
  11. The voting for the tricks ends with the upload-closure. To increase your chance of many votes and a high rating, you should upload your trick as soon as possible every week.
  12. For the competition entry you need an own BESTTRICK-Account.
  13. All uploaded tricks must be done by you in person.
  14. Already uploaded tricks on BESTTRICK are not accepted. You should redo and not present the tricks.
  15. The decision if a trick is landed or not is exclusively made by our unbiased judges. Their judgement is correct and final.
  16. If you are violating these rules, you are excluded from the competition.

Skateboarders set to jam in Lunenburg

by Robert Hirtle
Veteran local skater Vaughn Whynot
has taken the lead in organizing Spring
Into Skate Jam, slated to take place at
the Lunenburg Skateboard Park April 6.

With spring just around the corner, it's time for skateboarding enthusiasts of all ages to dust off their boards and start getting the kinks out for the upcoming season.

One thing that is sure to help them brush off the rust is an event entitled Spring Into Skate Jam, slated for the Lunenburg Skateboard Park April 6 beginning at noon.

The event is being organized by veteran South Shore skating aficionado Vaughn Whynot, who says the idea is to stage a no-cost skating event that will allow adults and youth alike to come together, show off their boarding prowess "and just have a good time.

"What a skate jam is, compared to a skate competition, is that kids would [have] to pay to enter a contest," Mr. Whynot explains. "[But] a skate jam is groups of friends getting together … [to] just skate and have fun. What people started doing was saying hey, why can't we do that and give prizes out for the best skater in the group."

With that idea in mind, Mr. Whynot solicited several local businesses as well as the Lunenburg recreation department, which graciously donated prizes for the winning skaters.

Those will be awarded in a variety of competitions which will be staged for three different skill levels - peewee, intermediate and pro.

He is also looking for volunteers who might be willing to video and photograph the event as well as individuals "who can help out and just make sure everything is fine and going smoothly.

"We're kind of hoping some bands would donate their time to come and play a little bit. That would serve as advertising to them and bring a little bit of music for the kids. If we did have bands, it would put a lot more of a feel to the event," he says.

Mr. Whynot says that while skate jams have been held in Lunenburg before, this event will be different as it will be used as a kickoff for the summer skating season.

A similar event held in Lunenburg in 2007 attracted over 100 skaters, and he is anticipating that number to double as expressions of interest have come from as far away as Newfoundland for this year's jam.

"And I'm working on trying to get at least one or two pro skateboarders to come down just for the weekend to sign a couple of things and that sort of thing," he adds.

For more information on Spring Into Skate Jam, contact Vaughn Whynot at vaughnwhynot@eastlink.ca or call 530-5870.

Hello,

About one week ago today, me and a couple buddies drove to the Bridgewater skate park. A little history needs to be said first. Many generations of skaters have tried and tried to get a park for Bridgewater, and over many years and meetings we finally accomplished a temporary park in a "carnival" parking lot. And if it wasn’t bad enough that we have to use this unlevelled bumpy, rough slab of asphalt a brand new cop station popped up about a year after the park got put there. and being a temporary you think it would be a prime deascion to get it out of there, but no we are stuck with this park being unused for what another two years. Tsk tsk

So to the happenings of last week which ironically was on Canada’s thanksgiving, we got out of the car bushy tailed and googly eyed and we did what came natural, we skated. but the festivities didn’t last too long within 3 minuets 2 cops walked over on foot and a SUV cop cruiser pulled out with its destination set for the park, which is funny seeing that there 10 realistic steps away from the park with only a road dividing the two. And this is where you’re thinking "RUNNNNNNNN" but being in the "situation" (ha) that we were in it wasn’t going to happen. Plus we got a car so it wouldn’t have worked.

Well 1/3 cops was half decent to us the other two which were men were out-of-line to put it nicely. We forked over our prized possessions with hesitation (skates). But no it wasn’t it over it seems everyone 16 and older gets a fine of 135 and a court date. Well ill be going to court mid November for doing something I love. Ill walk in with a smile on my face and a heltmet-less angel’s shirt under my over.

Oh and why this all happened is because of the helmet law.

And when you grow up not wearing a helmet. And then they

See one kid get hurt at a park "not even seriously" or

They get some fake world statistics, they try

Too slap helmets on us. Mind you this law is only

Effective in Nova Scotia.

That’s why skateboarding is a crime,

And why i'm a convict.
