CALGARY (Tuesday, August 8th, 2006) ––
Calgary’s own Tara Teigen has signed on to serve as Co-Host and MC of

President of Slam City Jam. “Not only does she have great street
credentials as a former action sport athlete herself, she brings with
her television and announcing experience from some of the biggest
events in sports, including the Winter Olympic Games and the X Games.
She’ll do a great job for our fans.”
The Olympian will
work with World Cup of Skateboarding announcer Dave Duncan, the world’s
leading skateboarding announcer, to give a dynamic one-two punch to the
proceedings at the Calgary Corral and RoundUp Centre.
Teigen’s resume includes stints with CBC, OLN and Sportsnet in Canada
and NBC and ESPN in the U.S. She has called the Winter X Games. Teigen
appeared at the Crankworx Mountain Bike Festival last month in
Whistler.
As an action sports athlete, Teigen placed
10th at the Winter Olympic Games in 1998. She was a Canadian National
Snowboard Team member for three years and in 1997, won the World Cup
Overall Champion title for half pipe. In 1998 she won the half pipe
competition at the Canadian National Championships and a bronze medal
at the US Open.
Teigen is actively involved in action
sports above and beyond her roles at events like the X Games and Slam
City Jam. She is involved with the Canadian Snowboarding Federation and
is the Head Coach at the Camp of Champions, a Ski and Snowboard camp in
Whistler, B.C. She attended University of Calgary 1993 -1995 after
