The
Whistler Skateboard Association threw a RailJam/Fundraiser in Whistler, BC on
Sept. 26th on the patio of the Longhorn Saloon. Scaffolding was set up to allow
for a nice drop in ramp, lots of space to setup and then a six-set with two
hubbas down the sides and an eight-foot
flatbar in the middle, allowing, of course, plenty of room to ollie down as
well..
The night
started off with the setup open to anyone who felt like skating for
the first
couple of hours as the crowd watched, had a few beverages, and enjoyed some
sweet tunes from the like of Wes Makepeace, Jay Greenway and a few others.
In
addition to the contest, the night was also a fundraiser for The Whistler
Skateboard Association, who helps support the local skateboard community and
have been responsible for the creation of Whistler’s own not-so-secret
underground
skate
spot. As always it was nice to see the community come out in force to support a
worthy cause which raised over $1700 to go towards the next phase of
construction in the Creekside underground skatepark.
