On the last day of the WSSF Bind Mute Productions and Crispin Lipscomb put together an art show in Function Junction. Blind Mute took care of the artists and Crispin decided it would be a good idea to get a bunch of white Ipath shoes that could be painted and then were auctioned which raised a total of $725 for the Whistler Skateboard Association. The event had a good vibe and a whole lot of sweet art from over 50 different artists. Thanks goes out to Pepe and Randy at Blind Mute Productions, Crispin Lipscomb and all the artists for making the event possible and thinking of the Whistler Skateboard Association.

THE WHISTLER
 SKATEBOAR ASSOCIATION

For Immediate release:

After an incredible amount of work on the part of everyone from organizers, fundraisers and especially our team of highly-skilled and highly-motivated builders, The Whistler Skateboard Association is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Creekside Underground Bowl, fixed-up and resurfaced with over $4,000 worth of Skatelite, a durable material that should last for years to come.

After the initial success of the ramp last summer, it was made awfully clear that standard ramp-building practices were not enough to withstand the incredible amount of use a ramp of this nature, in a town of this nature, would be receiving. The decision to resurface the ramp in Skatelite was an easy one, securing the funds to pay for the new materials has proven to be a lot more challenging. But with hard work and perseverance, goals can be achieved and with the use of funds raised through past fundraisers, as well as several key “donations/loans”, we were able to complete this long overdue task.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in The Whistler Skateboard Association as well as this past weeks build. Thanks go to Whistler/Blackcomb, especially Brian Finestone, The Resort Municipality of Whistler, The Rotary Club, Lawrie at Rona, Kyle and Rick at Snowboard.com & SkateboardVillage.com, Mike at Garf’s, Phsea at Daily Slice, Kyle at New Line Skateparks our lead builder Dean and all of our builders who put in a ton of time and effort this week.

On behalf of The Whistler Skateboard Association,

Lenny Rubenovitch      -President
Dave Murphy              -Vice-President
Brian Hockenstein       -Secretary/Treasurer

The Skatelite has arrived and we are working on making a build date. We would like to make the repairs to the ramp in under 4 days of work. So in the next week or so if we hope to have all tools, 2nd layer of plywood and builders ready to build.

In the meantime check out a video of one of our previous fundraisers:

The WSA is having a meeting at 3 Below, the restaurant next to the movie theatre, on Monday Jan. 15th. The main objective of the meeting is to get everyone together to talk about the rebuilding of the ramps down in the underground. We have ordered the skatelite for the resurfacing of the bowl (which cost $4,500) and it will be arriving next week. We would like to put a call out to any interested skilled builders for the resurfacing and expansion of the park. As well, we will be talking about our next fundraiser/event among other things. So come on out and support Skateboarding in Whislter.

Re-designed the web site, check out www.conspire.ca

were now working on a fundraiser mixtape, see website for details. Were looking for anyone that wants to donate music to help out. We have some awsome talent already involved. Get in touch if you want to help out, and we'll try to promote your music through the website and cd, and possibly future events, fundraiser parties, etc.
