CORE Action Takes on the Action Sports Community

Grapevine, Texas (November 21, 2008)--CORE Action has entered full-steam into the action sports social culture. Having completed its beta-stage the CORE Action website has launched revealing its edgy, gritty look and first-rate content. At the heart of COREaction.com is the Nation, an action sports community that provides a forum for enthusiasts of all ages to communicate, share and express themselves through the sports they love.

CORE Action also provides its viewers with day-to-day coverage of what's happening in the action sports world--skateboarding, snow sports, surfing, motocross, BMX and water sports are all covered highlighting the best news, events, photos and videos from each discipline. CORE also informs and entertains users with in-house video coverage, featuring one-on-one interviews with top-pros, hot on the scene action from local and national events and short entertaining vignettes to get the adrenaline pumping.

While CORE reports on what's going on in the pro scene, our real ambition is to provide a forum for the young and up-and-coming athletes to get their story out and let themselves be known. Gone are the days of sending in "sponsor-me" tapes to companies in desperate and often futile attempts to get noticed. With CORE, the athlete can log-on to the Nation and post a bio, videos and photos in an effort to promote themselves within the community. CORE's main objective is to support the sport's underdogs and amateurs and to forge lasting partnerships within our member network as we grow into the future.

"Not only do we provide up-to-date original content, but we do it in a safe environment where kids are protected and can be among their peers." Kent Holcomb, President of CORE Action explains, "We closely follow the COPPA laws which protect underage kids from predators and mature content."

Nick Moscia CORE Action Marketing Director agrees, "We're all about reaching out to the action sports community. For us, it's about the kids. This is a place where they can hang out, chat with friends and check out the latest videos, news and events."

The CORE staff comes from within the action sports culture--skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, BMX and motocross. From the slopes of the Rocky Mountains to waves of Cocoa Beach, Florida, the CORE crew are embedded in their prospective scenes. Preserving the culture and empowering riders to enjoy their sports and to reach full potential is our objective at CORE Action.

CORE Philosophy--Within every discipline of action sports lay a CORE group of people. They are the ones pushing the boundaries and limits on a daily basis. CORE riders raise the bar and create new standards for the rest to follow. They are the epicenter of the Industry and help keep our Culture alive and thriving. These devoted folks eat, drink and sleep the sport which they are true to and willingly make sacrifices to keep the ride going. Living a CORE lifestyle defines these individuals and establishes a place for them in this world...

CORE Action was founded in 2007 and is an internet-based action sports community which specializes in social networking and providing premium action sports related content. For more information go to www.COREaction.com.

She came from above

And showed me such love

She told me she cared

But was never there

She gave me this look

That sometimes made me shook

She took away my breath

Then took me to death

She ripped out my heart

And split me apart

Then so there was death from an Angel

Two Worlds

Split between two worlds,
One of old, and one of new.
I see in the eyes of both,
What I see in only a few.
But what if both worlds,
Are just not for me.
Both turn me away,
Both look out to sea.
The only place for me,
Is somewhere out in space.
Where Im far from both worlds,
Gone without a trace.

Skateboard News: Leeside Info
By: vsc

Here are some of the latest developments from the Leeside Stewardship Group,

LEESIDE MEMORIAL SKATEPARK

Originally conceived as a bus loop by BC Transit, the project was abandoned in the early 1990s. The potential of this space was eventually recognized by a number of local youth, including Lee Matasi, who sought to utilize it for graffiti and skateboarding purposes. The Leeside Stewardship Group along with the Vancouver Skateboarding Coalition is working to develop this space in recognition of his efforts and out of respect for his life that ended too soon. At this stage, we are awaiting a council report to approve funding for a project which will transform Leeside into a community space devoted to the youth cultures of the skate, bike and graffiti communities.

While things have definitely been tied up in bureaucratic red tape, we are pushing ahead. Right now we are dealing with an Engineering requirement that has the tunnel split straight down the middle with jersey barriers in order to provide 5 meters of space for vehicle and pedestrian access. While ECOMM (our nearest neighbour) does need emergence vehicle access through the tunnel, this is the last thing we want to see. We are in the process of setting up a stakeholder meeting with Engineering, Parks Board, and ECOMM which will focus on finding another solution that will serve all the users of this space in a better manner. This will take place at the end of March and from there we can start talking design.

3.Q-If the professor on Gilligan's
Island

5.Q-Can blind people see their dreams? Do they dream??
6.Q-What do you call male ballerinas?
7.Q-Does pushing the elevator buttom more than once make it arrive faster
8.Q-Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?

20 Things To Do In A Drive Through Lane

1. Stand close to the speaker and yell your order, using colorful expletives in ways which would embarrass the patrons inside.
2. Drive through backwards.
3. Belch your order.
4. After ordering, cover the speaker and mic with transparent tape. Watch as customers and order-takers are unable to hear each other and, thus, each raises his/her volume.
5. Barter. Offer a Whopper for a Big Mac.
6. Walk through.
7. Speak a foreign language (make one up if you have to). When the manager comes to the mic, speak English and inquire as to why the order taker had such difficulty understanding you.
8. Repeat everything the order-taker says.
9. Attempt to take the order-takers order ("Hi, may I take your order?") before they get a chance to take yours.
10. Order confusing items, i.e., "Hi, I'll have a large orange Coke and a small medium fries, please." 11. In a crowded drive-thru line, place a HUGE order, then slip out of line and watch the fun as the person behind you is handed 40 bags of food.
12. When you arrive at the window to pick up your food, hand them several bags of garbage & ask if they'll dispose of it for you. Make sure it smells.
13. Drive through with a carload of naked people.
14. Speak in such a garbled fashion that the order-taker will think there is a problem with the speaker and ask you to order at the window. When you arrive at the window, speak in the same garbled, incomprehensible fashion.
15. Drive through with someone on the hood to accept the food.
16. Bring along a Mr. Microphone. When the order-taker speaks, aim the mic at their speaker but do so while aiming the Mr. Microphone speaker at the mic to produce excruciating feedback of their own voice.
17. One word: Flatulence!
18. Have a friend hide in the trunk. When you approach the window to pickup your order, have him start yelling and banging his fists on the trunk.
19. If you are a male, have a female friend place the order by speaking VERY seductively and suggestively into the speaker. When she finishes, have her hide and pull up to accept your order. See how many of the order-takers fellow employees have been called over to the window to "check out the babe".
20. Change a flat tire in the drive-thru lane.

30 Ways to Mess With People in a Computer Lab

1. Log on, wait a sec, then get a frightened look on your face and scream "Oh my God! They've found me!" and bolt.
2. Laugh uncontrollably for about 3 minutes & then suddenly stop and look suspiciously at everyone who looks at you.
3. When your computer is turned off, complain to the monitor on duty that you can't get the damn thing to work. After he/she's turned it on, wait 5 minutes, turn it off again, & repeat the process for a good half hour.
4. Type frantically, often stopping to look at the person next to you evilly.
5. Before anyone else is in the lab, connect each computer to different screen than the one it's set up with.
6. Write a program that plays the "Smurfs" theme song and play it at the highest volume possible over & over again.
7. Work normally for a while. Suddenly look amazingly startled by something on the screen and crawl underneath the desk.
8. Ask the person next to you if they know how to tap into top-secret Pentagon files.
9. Use Interactive Send to make passes at people you don't know.
10. Make a small ritual sacrifice to the computer before you turn it on.
11. Bring a chainsaw, but don't use it. If anyone asks why you have it, say "Just in case..." mysteriously.
12. Type on VAX for a while. Suddenly start cursing for 3 minutes at everything bad about your life. Then stop and continue typing.
13. Enter the lab, undress, and start staring at other people as if they're crazy while typing.
14. Light candles in a pentagram around your terminal before starting.
15. Ask around for a spare disk. Offer $2. Keep asking until someone agrees. Then, pull a disk out of your fly and say "Oops, I forgot."
16. Every time you press Return and there is processing time required, pray "Ohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease," and scream "YES!" when it finishes.
17. "DISK FIGHT!!!"
18. Start making out with the person at the terminal next to you (It helps if you know them, but this is also a great way to make new friends).
19. Put a straw in your mouth and put your hands in your pockets. Type by hitting the keys with the straw.
20. If you're sitting in a swivel chair, spin around singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" whenever there is processing time required.
21. Draw a picture of a woman (or man) on a piece of paper, tape it to your monitor. Try to seduce it. Act like it hates you and then complain loudly that women (men) are worthless.
22. Try to stick a Nintendo cartridge into the 3 disc drive, when it doesn't work, get the supervisor.
23. When you are on an IBM, and when you turn it on, ask loudly where the smiling Apple face is when you turn on one of those.
24. Print out the complete works of Shakespeare, then when its all done (two days later) say that all you wanted was one line.
25. Sit and stare at the screen, biting your nails noisily. After doing this for a while, spit them out at the feet of the person next to you.
26. Stare at the screen, grind your teeth, stop, look at the person next to grinding. Repeat procedure, making sure you never provoke the person enough to let them blow up, as this releases tension, and it is far more effective to let them linger.
27. If you have long hair, take a typing break, look for split ends, cut them and deposit them on your neighbor's keyboard as you leave.
28. Put a large, gold-framed portrait of the British Royal Family on your desk and loudly proclaim that it inspires you.
29. Come to the lab wearing several layers of socks. Remove shoes and place them of top of the monitor. Remove socks layer by layer and drape them around the monitor. Exclaim sudden haiku about the aesthetic beauty of cotton on plastic.
30. Take the keyboard and sit under the computer. Type up your paper like this. Then go to the lab supervisor and complain about the bad working conditions.

On June 30th, exploding fireworks signaling the opening of the Forks Plaza could be heard around the world.  In merely seconds, barely an inch of surface was visible as over 6000 locals, top pros, politicians and international media rushed to experience what has been touted by many as this 'year's most anticipated grand opening in North America skateboarding’.

Covering a total area of over 44,000 square feet, the Forks consists of a meticulously detailed skateable sculpture plaza and expansive modern bowl complex tied seamlessly into the heart of downtown Winnipeg’s urban fabric.  Skateable terrain caters to virtually everyone with a myriad of real street and transition influenced features split into two main areas:

Central Plaza  - 29,000 sqft.:  Inspired by prized skate spots around the world and the local arts community, the main plaza area is made up of a endless combination of stair sets, banks, rails and ledges set within a host of custom sculptures and other art pieces - the majority of which are skateable.  ‘Must skates’ include the notched vert wall, the 'Magic Carpet' - a super elevated ribbon track, granite capped ledges and blocks, acid etched hip, and series of slappy ledges.

Bowl Complex:  Separate and adjacent to the Central Plaza, lies an 8,500 sqft. bowl unit combining traditional pool and modern coping lines.  Walls begin at 5 feet and progress through a series of hips, elevators, extensions, and a pump bump to a massive 17 foot cradle and 13 foot over vert pocket.

The plaza is another New Line first, not only in North America, but around the world.  To date, the level of aesthetic detailing, site integration, incorporation of sculpture and art, and positioning within the urban context is unmatched by existing skate facilities.  The Plaza is open to everyone across all generations and will soon tie directly into the entrance of the Canadian Human Rights museum.

Love isn't real
It's all just a gag
It is the world's cruelness
Of showing us something we can't have

No matter how much you think it's there
It isn't real
Because it only takes a split second
Before its a done deal

There is no way to win
You'll lose, you're f*cked
Might as well not try
Might as well give up

It's not worth the time
No matter how good it seems
It's just your mind playing tricks
It's all just a dream

Two roads split off from here,
and my life goes running in opposite directions.
Exaggerating the barrier between who I am,
and who I want to be.

I wanted to be the breath of fresh air,
When everything smelled so insincere.
But this taste still lingers in my mouth,
Deceit has ways of sticking around.
And I'm ready to disappear,
Vacation seems far... seems far from here.

Note to self:
I miss you terribly.
This is what
we call a tragedy.
Come back to me,
back to me,
To me.
(repeat)

I can feel my mind,
wandering again.
Into what I dont know,
and will I ever get home?
Time starts moving,
faster than I can.
And I'm sick of this scene,
I need to break the routine.
(repeat)

Two roads...
Split off from here,
and my life goes running in opposite directions.
Exaggerating the barrier between who I am,
and who I want to....

Which part of me is lost?
I feel so close,
and yet I am so far.
Which part of me is lost?
I feel so close,
and yet I am so.

she cries in the window,sobbing
her heartbeat it keeps throbbing
she mourns for him in the rain
he cant hear her, so he splits the vein
he finds her on the floor and cries
in his arms she lays and dies
that night as he lay in bed
the bloody image runs through his head
he cant beleive what has gone obn
he wont make it, not even till DAWN
he takes a gun and raises it darefully
he drops to the floor very carefully
no one finds him until its too late
shooting himself was his only fate
everyone can see that they were truely in love
on the day of the funeral there was only a dove
only one dove that flew in the sky
at that one place where the two lovers lie!!!!

My Blog: interesting.
By: loozin_it

...i had thought that i had found her. time went by. ... then i saw what i was:. her words were fresh from a whetstone:. then i realised that we werent meant to be..  i felt .... i started to change.  started to become something...else. the walls melted away. the sky was dark. a great shadow passed over the .   --red falls with dismay...--  blood fell from the clouds as raindrops. pitch black lightning split the sky. there was no thunder; in its place was the endless amount of screams and cries of crucified victims. the stench of rotting corpses was so overwhelming it made me . i coughed and gasped for air, i needed air. i couldnt breath. my lungs burned with suffocation. i could see little clouds of breath in the freezing cold atmosphere. i could then hear galloping footsteps. and there standing before me as i lay dying a thousand deaths on the ground was a montrously large beast. he was covered in scales. his head was that of a wolf and torso that of a man. his lower body was that of a horse, aside from the feet; those of a croc's. he had four arms, each with two double-jointed elbows. the hands were reptillian as well. the monster's name was Xarach (Zha-rock).
he snarled at me, then spat on my face. then he said, "chorxeid deith dei onto thei." (shor-zh aid daith day ohn-tho they) which means: cursed death be unto thee. he laughed in his low growl of a voice, then galloped away. Xarach's acidic saliva ate away at my face painfully. as i died the thousandth death, the walls faded back, and i was safe in our world. for a while at least...
