Last Chance to Vote: China Creek Skatepark meeting Oct. 11th 7:00 pm 800 East Broadway

Seems like this is the final meeting for the China Creek upgrades, so let's all try to
make it out and vote. Tell your friends, etc...

I just checked out the Parks Board site, and there are 2 options to vote
on, as far as how they will deal with the upgrades:

One is to keep the skatepark, and put a playground to the west of it,
divided by some trees and landscaping.

The other option is to remove the current skatepark and replace it a
playground, and build what seems to be a much smaller park to the west of
that.

Here is the link showing the 2 options the Parks Board has offered:

http://vancouver.ca/parks/info/planning/chinacreeksouth/whatnext.htm

Hope lots of skaters turn out for the vote!

Another sunny day in California made for good surfing, and hanging on the beach.  Option pro rider and Sandbox founder Kevin Sansalone was kind enough to take me to a break called Dads, just south of Carlsbad. The waves were mellow and perfect for us to play around on. We worked up quite an appetite, so naturally we went to In & Out Burger.

When we arrived back in San Diego we met up with the rest of the crew that had just flown in.  This included Burton rider Mark Sollors, Option rider Paul Gonzales, and photographer Russell Dalby. By the time we showered up and had a beer it was time to head into the Transworld Rider Poll Awards.

The Rider Poll Awards is one hell of a party. Hosted in On Broadway, the party incorporates 3 different clubs, with different DJ’s in each area at any given time. At around 9pm, everyone sat down, and watched the best of the best in snowboarding receive their awards.

Womens rookie of the year, Elena Hight

Mens rookie of the year, Danny Davis

Stand out performance, David Benidect (double cork 1260)

Womens rider of the year, Hannah Beeman

Mens rider of the year, Shaun White

Womens readers poll rider of the year, Leanne Pelosi

Mens readers poll rider of the year, Shaun White

Immediately after the awards, Mack Dawg premiered one of their new movies People. It was very impressive to say the least. Stand out parts go to Etienne Gilbert, Shaun Mckay, Nima Jamali and Pat McCarthy. You can peep the teaser at www.mackdawgproductions.com/2006/people.html

The party went hard all night. And although it’s a bit of a blur, I think everyone had a crazy good night. A fairly serious dance party started up in one of the clubs downstairs. I’m pretty sure the whole Burton girls team was there.. Molly Agurie was just owning the dance floor.

Fun Fun, I’m out,

- jeff

Leanne Pelosi receives her award from Cody Dresser and Annie Fast.

Thoughts of.. Katherine! <3: Just another day
By: eH_dc

well, I see I havent posted in a while so I'm going to post now. ok soo.. how are you guys doing?? I'm doing pretty swell I suppose. Well, today I spent the day with my friend Larissa, we went to broadway and window shopped and then stopped for some lunchie :p and then we went back to her house and hung out and then we made supper and theenn we went outside and played hockey with her 9 year old brother and his friends :p it was pretty fun tho, I was a pretty awesome goalie :) heh not really. oh well, and then we got a sled and we pulled the little kids around for a bit and I just about froze my fingers and toes off but it was worth it.. I havent played outside like that in atleast 2-3 years, so I really enjoyed it :). so.. I'm really worried right now because something happened to my best friend today and she said she left some messages for me on msn but when i got home my computer froze and I didnt get to find out what was wrong and now she's not at home and.... I just really want to know what happened .. so I'm really sad and worried and I hope she comes home soon.. :(. But uhm.. so yeah, tomorrow I'm supposed to have this sleepover with Morgan and my cousin Lisa, it should be fun fun! :) so yeah.. I'm starting to talk to that guy more and more, I hope I can get to know him a bit more though.. and I hate confessing this to a screen where everyone can know my thoughts but.. I dont have my best friend here to tell everything to at the moment so I have to resort to this..because I need to get it out. well, I really want to tell this guy that I like him.. like really bad, because I'm scared that if I wait too long I'll lose the oppertunity and he'll like someone else and I'll never get that chance.. but I'm also afraid that if I tell him I like him that it will make our friendship awkward.. cause I'm not too sure if this guy is into commitments.. like, I dont know if he would want to go out or just continue being friends or something but.. I dont know, I really like him and he's nice to me and he respects me and stuff.. I just like him. I'm also not too sure if he likes me back..I know he likes someone, and if I tell him that I like him I'll probably chase him away or something.. i dunno. help? anyone??

My Blog: Somebody
By: CrazyBlonde

At a diner down on Broadway they make small talk
When she brings his eggs and fills his coffee cup
He jokes about his love life
And tells her he's 'bout ready to give up
That's when she says,"I've been there before
Keep on lookin'
'Cause maybe who you're lookin' for is..."

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
That you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at
But never really see
Somewhere out there is somebody

Across town in a crowded elevator
He can't forget the things that waitress said
He usually reads the paper
But today he reads a stranger's face instead
It's that blue-eyed girl
From two floors up
Maybe she's the one
Maybe he could fall in love with

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
That you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at
But never really see
Somewhere out there
Is somebody

Now they laugh about the moment that it happened
A moment they'd both missed until that day
When he saw his future in her eyes
Instead of just another friendly face
And he wonders why
He searched so long
When she was always there at that diner waiting on

Somebody in the next car
Somebody on the morning train
Somebody in the coffee shop
That you walk right by everyday
Somebody that you look at
But never really see
Somewhere out there
Oh somewhere out there is somebody

IT TOOK US 2 WEEKS TO GET TO THERE... I GUESS IT WASNT THAT BAD WHEN WE GOT THERE BECAUSE I GOT TO SKATE IN DC(WITH COPS KICKEN ME OUT OF ALL THE GOOD SPOTS)..SINCE DC GETS KINDA BORING AFTER AWHILE, WE TOOK A 4 HOUR BUS RIDE TO NYC.. GOOD SKATING THERE BUT THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND TO FILM ME...CENTRAL PARK IS GOOD FOR SKATING AND ON BROADWAY IS GOOD FOR SKITCHING...YEA...WELL NY WAS THE ONLY GOOD PART OF THE TRIP... AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COOL IF WE COULD HAVE STAYED IN WEST CHESTER FOR AT LEAST A MINUTE, MY MOM FELT LIKE PUTING THE PEDAL TO THE METAL ALL THE WAY TROUGH IT...IT STILL WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER TO HANG OUT WITH MY FREINDS FOR THOSE 3 WEEKS...=-(
