I might be moving back to California to take over the family business.
it scares the shi*t out of me.
I don't know the first thing about running a business like that. it's quite successful and getting kind of large. my parents(my dad is the sole owner) said I should expand it... to Wisconsin and Minnesota... especially in this area since it's expanding so fast.

I've got college.... one of my biggest worries is that I won't be able to go to college and run this business at the same time.

chyeeah.... I don't know what to do.

I guess I just have to go for it....

"dont' fear it.. just charge it"... right?

right?

The Captain and Casey have been on FUEL TV since the channel started in 2003, and over the last three years, their show, “The Captain And Casey Show” has become one of the most popular on the channel thanks to the duo turning what looks like a very low-budget studio set into an roller derby track, a Mexican wrestling ring, and hosting a toga party, among other things.

The Captain (Jeff Carlson) and Chris Casey grew up together in St. Louis and have known each other for years. Whether they’re on screen or not, the duo banter back and forth constantly, cracking inside jokes, making references to things that only they and their close friends would get, and pretty much have a great time all the time.

The Captain and Casey recently sat down with us (only after we offered them a few beers) and discussed the upcoming season of “The Captain And Casey Show” on FUEL TV. Here’s what they had to say:

What are some of the highlights of the new season?

Casey: The day that the Captain had diarrhea and he was hung up by the harness.

Captain: I didn’t have diarrhea. I was just hung over.

Casey: We also got to cover the entire set in snow for the first time ever! Then there was the time that we had a sand box built in the studio and we had more people than ever on the set. It was very hectic!

Captain: It was for the guys from Sugar Skateboards. They like ollieing over sand gaps in Santa Monica, so we wanted to make them feel at home.

Casey: But Marco (Jazbinsek, Sugar Skateboards owner) didn’t bring his bangy bong. We were bummed.

Captain: Another highlight is we got a new couch for the set.

Casey: How’s that feel? I never get to sit on it. I’m always behind the desk playing with Keggy, running the trains, and keeping stuff going.

Captain: It’s really comfortable.

Casey: There’s also lots of good skating this season.

Captain: They let us out of the studio a lot more.

Casey: To all the readers, if you’re lucky, we’ll be coming to your town soon!

What about some of the guests who will be on the show this season?

Casey: Rob Dyrdek is on this season, and you get to see a trailer of his new movie with P. Rod called “Street Dreams.”

Casey, at the beginning of every show, you’re in bed with two girls. Tell us about that night?

Casey: Well, maybe we smoked the cigarettes you see in the background, and maybe we drank the alcohol you see in the room. I can tell you I’ve passed out on plenty of women in my time. The funny thing was the motel owner thought we were filming a porno in there. Maybe we were …

Captain: Here’s an interesting fact: The driver of the limo in the show’s intro is actually Justin Bokma. He used to be a pro for Balance Skateboards.

So Captain, are you actually a “captain” of anything?

Captain: Of fun! I think everyone is the captain of their own ship.

Casey: He actually does have his boat license!

Captain: I’m into making beer right now. I’ve also started a club called the California Leisure Activities Club—CLAC. You can try to join if you want. We’re into leisure activities like hammocks, yatching, bbqs, archery, badminton, and I just started getting into guns.

Casey: Yeah, let’s go to the gun range and shoot some stuff!

Now that you guys are big TV stars, do you get recognized a lot?

Casey: If we’re together, we get recognized all the time.

Captain: I went to rent a boat, and the guy who was cleaning the boat looked at me and said: “I thought the Captain would have a bigger boat.” And I didn’t know what he was talking about. But then he said he was a big fan of the show. So that’s the kind of person who watches the show--guys who clean out the toilets in boats!

Anything else you guys want to mention?

Casey: We’re always auditioning for new cocktail waitresses on the show. If you’re a good looking girl and you want to be on our show, e-mail us a picture at: info@remotecontrolmonkey.tv.

Look for the new season of “The Captain And Casey Show” on FUEL TV beginning May 20, 2007. Original episodes premiere on Sunday nights at 8:00 pm ET/PT during the “Stacked Sundays” programming block and re-air several times throughout the week.

One 16 year-old boy Michael, and a 16 year-old girlfriend, Sarah, fell deeply in love since the very first day they met. They both lived in California but the girl had just moved there a year ago but fell for him so fast. Michael played on her dad's football team. He was the best player on the team and her dad saw him as a son of his own. Sarah was a cheerleader on the team and had everything she ever wanted. Until one day... her life crashed. Mom: Wake up honey. Michael's downstairs waiting for you. Sarah: Oh my gosh. I woke up too late! I still need a shower and everything! Right when she said that Michael walked into her room smiling from ear to ear. Michael: No baby. You're beautiful just like that- now come on, I'm starving. Sarah: Okay.
Sarah got out of bed, put on some clothes, took his hand, and walked out the door to his car and got in. Sarah: Where are we going? Remember that I have to be home by 1. I have cheerleading practice and you have football. Michael: I know.. Then Sarah noticed that Michael was really pale-looking. Sarah: Michael are you feeling okay? You look like you're sick.. Michael: Yeah; it's just my allergies. Sarah: Are you sure? Did you go to the doctor yet? Michael: Yeah.. I went yesterday. They just said to take some allergy pills and that I'll be okay. Sarah turned to look away from Michael. She knew there was something wrong. She has allergies and she doesn't look like that.
Then he reached out and held her hand. Sarah: Michael your hands are so cold. I dont think you're okay tell me what's really wrong.. do we need to go back to the house? Michael: I promise you baby; everything is okay.. they told me to go back tomorrow but I'm not going because there's nothing wrong with me. Sarah: Michael you need to go! If they told you to then there is something wrong! Michael let go of her hand and turned back to the road and didn't talk to her the rest of the way. Sarah just looked at him. They finally pullled up to the resturaunt and ate breakfast. Michael: Did you bring your cheerleading stuff or do we have to go back to your house to get it?
Sarah: I have it.. do you really think you should go to football practice like that? Michael: Yes Sarah. I'm fine. Sarah: If you say so.. Michael: Sarah, baby, would I lie to you? Sarah: No... They got back in the car and went to the field. They got out and started practice. Sarah was practicing a new cheer, but then out of no where she heard a boy yell, "HE'S NOT MOVING SOMEONE CALL 911! HELP COACH!" Right when she heard that she turned around and saw Michael on the ground just laying there, not moving.
She ran to him but her dad pushed her back. Dad: No honey. You shouldn't be right here. Sarah started to cry. Sarah: Daddy. What happened? Is he okay? Dad: Honey. Please just go back with your coach. Sarah walked back and sat on the bench with her head in her hands while an ambulance came and took him away. She got in the car with her dad and they went to the hospital. When they got there his mom was already there and talking to the doctor. They walked over and listened... Doctor: You may want to sit down for this.Michaels Mom: Is he okay? Doctor: Ma'am.. your son has lukiemia. We can put him on treatments, but he might not make it because the cancer has already spread too much. Sarah was shocked and began to cry on here dads shoulder. Michaels Mom: Treatments? Doctor: Well the treatments would cause hair loss... but it will help slow the cancer down. Michaels Mom: But he's certain to die? Doctor: Yes.. but we have had this surgery to clear out the clogs.. but it's possible that he will not make it. Michaels Mom: I will have to talk to him about this. Can we see him now? Doctor: Yes. One at a time though. Michaels mom looked over at Sarah and hugged her tight she knew that Sarah loved him with all her heart. Michaels Mom: You go first sweetheart. Sarah: Are you sure? Michael's Mom: Yes honey. Sarah walked slowly to his room and turned the knob. She just stood there, looking at him lying there weak. He was so pale and he had tubes surrounding him. It was painful for her to look at him. Michael looked at her and weakly smiled at her.
She went over and kneeled down beside him. Michael: Did they already tell you? Sarah: Yes... Michael: I'm sorry Sarah. I didn't want you to find out like this. Sarah: It's okay; I understand Michael. Michael: Baby I love you so much.Michael reached up and slowly ran his fingers through her hair. Sarah: I love you too Michael. With all my heart.. and I will be here for you 'till the end. Michael: Im going to be okay Sarah. The nurse walked in with Michaels mom. Nurse: Its her turn now. Michael looked at Sarah. Michael: Bye baby.
Sarah: Bye. Sarah kneeled down and softly kissed his cold lips. Months went by and Michael lost his hair, but they were still deeply in love and Sarah was by him everyday. Michael was getting worse to where he couldn't even play football, and the championship game was coming up. Michael was  sitting on Sarah's porch with her and her dad. Michael: Coach.. I wanna play tomorrow. Dad: Michael I know you do.. but I can't let you do that.. you'll get hurt. Michael: No, coach. Please. This might be the last time on the field for me. I want to be able to play one more time. Dad looked at Michael and then at Sarah. Sarah nodded her head. Dad: You're a strong boy, Michael, and very brave. I think we can do this. Michael: Thank you so much coach. Sarahs dad nodded his head. Dad: So what are you two doing tonight?
Michael: I wanna show Sarah something if that's okay. Dad: Of course; you two be careful. Michael took Sarah's hand and lead her to his car. It was completely dark outside when they pulled up to the football field. Sarah: What are we doing here? Michael: Follow me. Michael grabbed a blanket and laid it down onto the field. They both laid there looking at the stars. Sarah: This is so beautiful. Michael: I do this often. I wanted to show you the place I love. Sarah: Do you remember the flowers you gave me on our very first date?
Michael: Sure I do; I gave you lillies; your favorite. Sarah: Yeah... I'll never forget that day. Michael: I want you to always remember something Sarah.
Sarah: What is it? Michael: I will always be with you.. and I will always love you.. you're my one and only.. Sarah started tearing. Sarah: I love you so much, Michael. Michael: And I also want you to be happy.. I want you to marry someone, have kids, make a family, just live a happy life for me. Sarah: No. I will never marry anyone.. im marrying you Michael Michael: Just don't forget what I told you. Michael leaned in and kissed her. She pushed him off and jumped up Sarah: You still think you can catch me? Michael: Oh yeah. I'm stronger than I look. Sarah: Then come get me. Michael stood up and chaised her around the football feild until he finally caught her. He laid on top of her and put her hands behind her back and held her there so she couldn't move. Then it started to rain and they were getting soaked but they didn't care. Michael looked deep into her eyes. Michael: Who's the weak one now huh? Sarah: Me (she giggled) Michael: Remember what you told me that night when we were at dinner? Sarah: No.. what? Michael: You have always wanted to kiss in the rain with the one you love. Sarah: Yeah? Michael: Well your wish is my comand. Michael leaned down and kissed her deeply. He pulled away. Michael: You're so beautiful. Sarah: You're such a good kisser. (she laughed.. so did he) Michael: I better get you home. They got into the car and went home. It was hard for them to sleep that night but they did.
It was finally the big day and they were all at the football field. Michael had on all his football gear, and Sarah was ready to cheer him on. The game began.
The crowd was going wild for Michael while Sarah was cheering her heart out for him. The score was 36 to 36. All they had to do was make one more point and they would win. Michael had the ball and ran with all he had to the touchdown line and threw the ball down. He had made a touch down! Everyone was cheering. They had won the game! But for Michael.. he may have lost his life. He fell to the ground trying to catch his breath. Sarah ran to him and kneeled down over him. He looked up at her gasping for breath. Everyone was heading to field. Her dad stood infront of them. Dad: Back away.. give them a moment please.. that's my daughter's love. Michael gently raised his hand and whiped her tears away. Sarah: Don't die Michael.. I need you.. I love you. Michael: I told you this was my dream to win the championship.. to be in the big game.. to die on this feild.. I made history.
Sarah leaned down and kissed him, knowing this was the last she would ever kiss him, the last time she would ever talk to him. She had so much to say but had no time to say it.Michael: I love you baby. Tell Mom I love her too.. and tell coach thank you. Sarah: I love you Michael. I love you so much.
Michael: I'll wait for you..... Michael's hand dropped and he let go. He died that night on the football feild. Sarah cried for 2 months straight. Sarah was lying on her bed when her dad walked in. Dad: Honey, it's been 2 months. Please get up. He would want you to have fun and be happy. Sarah: I know..
Dad: Guess what. Sarah: What? Dad: They are building a new stadium. Isn't that great honey? Come on, I want you to come with me before they tear the old one down. Sarah got up and went with her dad to the field. They climbed to the top of the bleachers and looked down. Sarah: It's like it was just  yesterday. He was out there throwing the football, making that touchdown.
Her dad wrapped his arms around her and she began to cry. Dad: I know baby., I know. Then Sarah noticed something on the feild. Sarah: Whats that daddy? Look. (Sarah pointed to the field) Dad: Look like some flowers are blooming. Sarah: Oh my gosh, daddy! Stop them! Don't let them tear this down! Please! Michael planted me something. Her dad ran down there and stopped them. Weeks later the flowers had bloomed. Her and her dad went to look at them. They were lillies that left a message saying, "I Love You".
If you have any heart at all and love someone this much repost this.
(also if you cried)

Calif. schools are hot spots for skaters

"California has been the epicenter of skateboarding ever since surfers in the early 1950s took a hacksaw to roller-skate wheels and attached them to 2-by-4 boards. Of the estimated 13 million skateboarders in the United States, about 1.5 million live in California, said Miki Vuckovich, executive director of the Tony Hawk Foundation."

"People come here from all over the world to look at the Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, to see the stars," said Marko Jazbinsek, owner of Sugar Skateboard Co. in Santa Monica. "That's how skateboarders come -- to look at their favorite skate spots."

Ed even has a town in California named after him. Emerica's pro Ed Templeton was honored with his very own skatepark!

Parents, school go through uneasy afternoon at LUHS

Parents of students at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua suffered through an uneasy afternoon Wednesday after district administrator Mike Dailey called for a school-wide lockdown at 11 a.m.
crowd of parents took up temporary residence in the parking lot of the Minocqua Paul Bunyan restaurant (located just behind the high school) while they waited for word on the fate of their children.

Dailey said he made the decision to keep the students in their classrooms and have the building searched based on two sets of circumstances that may or may not have been related. Graffiti was found Tuesday on school premises that indicated there may be a possible threat to student safety on Wednesday.

Dailey said his concerns grew when “students heard other students talking in the hallway related to a possible weapon,” he said.

After searching the school, and all of the students individually, Dailey said law enforcement did not recover any weapons.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department, an officer did accidentally discharge a bullet from the rifle he was carrying while the school was under lockdown. Authorities say the bullet struck the floor, and no one was injured, but the incident remains under investigation.

The students were released at approximately 3:45 p.m. Many of them boarded waiting school buses, but a number of them streamed over to Paul Bunyan to greet their parents.

Dailey declined to share the content of the graffiti threat at this time. He stressed that the investigation into this matter is in the very early stages and the graffiti is “a behavioral record possibly of a minor.”

Students who were in the building said the graffiti was written in blue paint on the wall of a boys restroom. Dailey would only confirm that the message was found on a wall.

While the students sat in their classrooms waiting for the all-clear, a number of parents paced the Paul Bunyan parking lot waiting for text messages from their children or updates from other parents.

“This is very scary. You try to be brave but it's hard,” said Sharon Mallizzio, who has two daughters who attend LUHS. “It's just such a sad thing.”

Mike Buettner, another LUHS father of two daughters, said he was in the school building at about 8:30 in the morning to drop off a hot lunch check.

“Everything seemed fine then,” he said, shaking his head.

Buettner, who said he moved his family from Illinois to Arbor Vitae because he thought it would be safer to live in a small town, said he hoped this incident would prompt parents to talk to their kids about how to handle conflict at school and be brave enough to speak up if they hear threats.

While other parents repeated rumors and attempted to assign blame for the threat, Buettner quietly stated that “there are two sides to every story” and parents have to teach their kids how to get along with others.

Carlos Velasquez, who also had two daughters inside the school, admitted to having a hard time being patient.

“I feel terrible,” he said, staring intently at the school building. “I want to go inside and get my daughters.”

Velasquez said he moved his family from California to escape violence and was disappointed to see the quiet serenity of the Northwoods violated in this way.

“There is nowhere you can go,” he said sadly. “There is always danger.”

yes, i know i havent written a blog for eternity. but im writing one tonight. i dont really have anything good to say though. josh is in california for thansgiving. he left way early tuesday morning and i wont see or hear from him until monday. its really, really, really, really hard for me right now. its hard not to constantly cry. its hard not to constantly worry. its hard not to be with him. its hard not to talk to him. for the six days without him, it is correct to say that it is hard to live.

he went to this thingy there for taikwando, and he's sposed to be at that thingy basically from the moment he arrives til the minute he leaves. no phone, no email, no way to contact me. plus its dangerous. i saw him for a while monday, but... even when i was with him it was hard to stop crying. the next day at school it hurt more to smile than getting your fingers mashed in a door for a whole minute.. a car door. it hurts that much.

i guess the only reason im holding together is because of my stupid subconsious that always tells me that everything will be all right and tells me "LIES! ALL LIES!!" when things dont turn out right. still, im scared that this will be a time where something will happen and ill feel the screaming of "LIES! ALL LIES!!"... in other words... something happening to josh.

ill write again.. soon hopefully..

hey all.
not much is happening. well, somethings are happening, but nothing worth telling u fine folks about. my best friend had her baby a couple of days ago. i wasnt there, but i wanted to be. my other best friend is moving to california and i probably wont see her much from now on. im sad cuz of that. shes really cool!!!(even if she denies it, shes still cool)!!!! hmmm, right now, im up in the Salt Lake City while mom has some class she signed up for. she says its about racial diversion or sumthin like that. but really, its just white bashing taken to an extreme. lol! im right next to the big Ute's stadium. apparently, they have a game today. i have never seen so many red shirts in one place before! me, i dont really give an at's rass who wins, just as long as they beat the shi*t out of each other getting there! haha!! but, yea, im really quite bored. cindy did move out, but now she and dave are kinda getting shaky. i dont know if theyre going to be together much longer.
ooo! i heard a great family story last night! ok, my mom once dated a guy named Jeff. well, Jeff and her were dating for like 2 years, and they kinda drifted apart one summer. well, mom drifted away from him. he still liked her. but she went to visit some of her brothers who lived down in Henderson Nevada. Jeff and one of his  freakish friends followed her. somehow, Jeff managed to get moms brother and brother-in-law to let them stay with them in Henderson.  Well, Jeff really overstayed his welcome by about 2 weeks (mom had even moved on! she wasnt in Henderson anymore! lol!), and was still sleeping on mom's brother's fold out couch. well, her brother-in-law had finally had enough. he gets a gun filled with blanks and, in the morning, sneaks into the living room. while their still sleepin, he yells "THATS IT!! IVE HAD ENOUGH!!" and just starts shootin at the ceiling. they freak out! all curled up in little bundles in the bottom of their sleeping bags. well, they high-tail it out of there and mom's never heard of them since. :D aint rednecks the best?

GIT-R-DONE!!!!!

So last week the Gromfest crew had a trip to the land of bikinis, movie stars and traffic jams...yes that's right, we went to Los Angeles.

You know there's something about that city (not that I could live there), but it gives off an exciting vibe when it comes to the world of skateboarding and snowboarding.  If you want to work in the industry that's the place to go.  Yes, yes I know you could always go work for Habitat in Ohio or Burton in Vermont or Mervin in Washington or Never Summer in Colorado or...you know what, that's not the point, the point is that the majority of the industry is based in Caliornia.

So for a week the Gromfest crew had meeting after meeting talking with potential sponsors about the big deal next summer.  What also got laid out while we were down there was the schedule for SoCal Skate Qualifiers.

Let it be known that SPAUSA and Giant Skateboards are helping to put on all things Gromfest in SoCal.

Gromfest and SPAUSA (Skate Park Association of the United States of America) will be putting on 4 skate comps around the Southern California area between now and next summer.  Show up to one of those events and kick some major keister and you'll be on your way to the semi-finals.  This is where Giant comes in.

I don't know if you've heard but Giant Skateboards has their own park and they're letting us use it!  We'll bring the top 10 kids from each of the 4 comps to the semi-finals at Giant.  There those 40 will compete and we'll select 2 from each of the previous comps (8 total) to qualify for the finals next summer at Whistler.

What events can get you qualified you may ask...well here they are:

SOCAL GROMFEST QUALIFIERS

Los Angeles Qualifier
Date TBD (spring)

Vans Skatepark - Orange County Qualifier
Date TBD (spring)

Skate Lab - Simi Valley Qualifier
Date TBD (spring)

San Diego Qualifier
Date TBD (spring)

I know, we don't have final dates and locations set but they're being arranged right now...we were just so excited about what's going on in SoCal that we had to tell you.  Remember to keep an eye to the event schedule on the Gromfest page for all the latest qualifying events!

SLAP Magazine’s Mark Whiteley and Joe Brook are the Team Captains for the Regular team while The Skateboard Mag’s Dave Swift is Team Captain for the Goofy team. Each Team Captain picks five skaters to pre-qualify for their Team. These five pre-qualified skaters—the Starting Five—will go straight into the GvR Finals on Sunday.

On Saturday, qualifiers for the rest of the Goofy and Regular Team skaters take place. The Goofy and Regular skaters will compete to make the cut of ten for each Team. The ten from each Team then join the five pre-chosen skaters and these fifteen skaters then comprise each Team for the Finals on Sunday.

During Sunday’s Finals, skaters on both Teams will compete in two distinct sessions. In the first half, a coin toss will determine which Team skates first. Each of the three heats will feature five different skaters from both Teams who will skate one introductory run followed by a five-minute jam. In the second half, each team, goofy and regular, will skate in two 10-minute jams.

Each team may substitute freely after five minutes of the heat, however, the starting five for each jam must be different. Injury substitutions are allowed at any time. There will be two Heats for each team, Regular and Goofy. Finally, if less than 25 points separates the two teams, the Team that is behind in overall score will challenge the other Team to a game of SKATE in any area or on any obstacle in the skatepark they choose. Each Team will pick two skaters to go head-to-head and the winning team will receive an extra 25 bonus points towards their overall score.
