So here's the deal. I recently moved and discovered that I am about 2 blocks from a skatepark.
Having never really spent much time in one before, it was a pretty intimidating place to go, especially considering my skills consist of ...well, cruising around, and the occasional flatground ollie or manual that are usually pretty sketchy.
So now i'm trying to learn some ramp skills...and am doing so at an alarmingly slow pace. Pumping in the half pipe makes my legs hurt, and i haven't quite got the timing down so I don't really gain much speed from it. I only mustered up the balls to drop in on one day, and the first 2 tries I slammed hard, so although I made my third attmept, i'm not too keen on this dropping in thing.
But I do have to say that should anyone find themselves in winnipeg, they should check out
www.winnipegskateparks.com for a list (and pics) of all the local parks. There are some really cool people on the forums as well.
Edit: Having only spent a little time on this site, i don't totally get it. I figured this was a site for skateboarders...and yet there are all these chicks on the site, some of them with 'boarder' or some compnay's moniker in their user name, but none of them seem to say anything about boarding.
Their profiles are filled with them doing the 'myspace' pose with their cameras or a lot of T&A...often underage T&A. And while I understand that the boys like the T&A...if that's all the site is about, why do the girls bother with 'boarder' in their names? Why not just call themselves 'hornybarelylegalskatergroupie6969'?
Of course, who am I to talk, I have barely any shots that even feature my face, and all my pictures are of me clinging to my board for dear life. Ha!
Anyway, just something I noticed as I was browsing around the site. Continue on with your day.
