Skateboard News: Gromfest's Online Video Contest

Have you heard of Gromfest? We’re a grassroots skate and snow competition that takes all of the proceeds from our event and donates them to non-profits that use board sports to benefit kids. Gromfest happens at Whistler in the summer with the skate competitions happening at Squamish skate park and the snow competitions happening on Camp of Champions terrain up on Blackcomb’s glacier. This comp is all about the love of the sports…our competitors are there because they love to ride and want to compete against kids from all over North America.

If you're interested in competing in Gromfest (whether on the skate or snow side of things) and you’re a part of Snowboard.com or SkateboardVillage.com, we’ve got the way to make it happen. Just put together a little video full of footage of you killing it. Upload your skate vids here and your snow vids here. If your tape has a mix of the two, then don’t worry, just upload to whichever one you like. Also include an explanation of why you want to be a part of Gromfest in the comments section of where you uploaded your video, cause dang it we're not only looking for the best riders, but also those who love the sports for all that they are.

Rules & Regulations:

* Participants must be 18 or under

* Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes

* Gromfest will take place from July 16th-19th at Whistler, British Columbia

* Participants must be able to get to Whistler on their own - flights and

accommodations are not included

* Lift tickets and free access to Camp of Champions terrain will be provided for

snowboard competitors

We’ll pick multiple winners after the deadline so get those tapes in, you could be joining kids from all over North America to compete this summer.

Deadline: May 31st

Ground is broken on phase 1 of the Ellesmere skatepark. This fluid park with street flavor is also being graced by the trowel of Eric Meunier, our eastern Canadian Skatepark Construction Specialist. Hopefully he'll be back next year to build phase 2: the bowl!

hey homeys,
been a while since i dropped a blog on this page, im back in squamish now from an overly exhausting, boring trip to ontario. im so stoked to be back with my homeys! since ive been back ive gone on 2 photo trips to van, one of which was pretty successful due to my brodawgers pher and clay. ive also gotten lots of skating in due to the fact im broke and jobless haha, if you live in the area and know a nice cozy job for the winter months here in squamish hook a braheimer up! anyways thats all the news fit to print, take a look through my photos and drop me some feedback homeys...

just a few days ago i heard my long time homey / roomate / best bud andre was engaged. blew my mind to say the least, i am super stoked for him and his girly sam! they asked me to shoot the wedding which, to me, was absolutely huge cause i could see people getting stabbed over bad wedding photos, jokes. anyways, when it comes down to it the only lens i had was a 70-200 which would make wedding photos extremely difficult to say the least. so out i went and blew a lot more money putting me good and in dept on a 24-70 canon lens and some other small junk. im super stoked but now i gotta wait even longer to get my 15mm fisheye !@#$^!#$

back in squamish in 6 weeks talk to you then...

finally done tree planting!! I was going through skate withdrawls while i was up there. just in ottawa visiting some family, checked out the baseline skatepark ...it's pretty sweet! i also skated the new and improved Orleans skate park... also good times. off to windsor in a few days to visit my mumsee, I'm sure I'll put in some time at the Forest Glade skate park before I'm off to Whistler on the 1st of August. Can't wait to skate squamish!!!

My Blog: dustin up on the ol'mini ramp skills...

as you all know, im on vacation here in onterrible visiting my parents and sis and her daughter, all is goin pretty well. i havent been skating as much as id like, but then again i know next to nobody here anymore that wants to go skateboarding ever. i took all the crap piled up on my old mini ramp off and gave it a good sweep to get all the pigeon crap off (its in a barn) and its as good as it ever was, which isnt actually very good haha. umm ive been working on putting up a new roof on our farm house which is taking up a lot of my days lately and also been playing around in photoshop lots to touch up on my skills. either then that im counting down the days til i head back to squamish; 7 more weeks til i peace out of this joint for another year! oh and hopefully ill be getting a new computer soon, not sure if i should get a new laptop to replace the one i have or get a dope desktop and keep my old laptop for on the road.

hello again all you bromeys homeys dudercheeses chicadees tricks and chicks! i recently quit my job as a framer to persue my calling as a jobless nobody. just messin, but i did quit my job, and im going back to ontario for the summer to skate, work, shoot snappers, and chill with the home slice crew! oh and my sister recently had a baby so i guess im an uncle and im gonna go see my neice for the first time, SUPER STOKED! umm so yep either then that ive just been skating squamish park every day, no matter how hot it is, and enjoying the life style i wish i could live forever.....jobless! until next time....
