I've only heard horros with GK's.  The baseplate breaking..now that was years ago though, so they may be worth a shot..the low kingpin is a bonus, just a downer if you don't have the allen key handy.
Lately I've been rollin Ventures and have never been happier....grind smooth, light as can be, and the classic silver is always steezy.  Honorable and close second place goes to Royal for me.

Grind King's are mad light.  I had a pair of thunders on my board and then i got some GK's.  i could tell the weight difference just when i was holding my board after I put them on.  So far they have held up pretty good. I've been grinding ledges and jumping down sets and they havn't seemed to show any real problems.

GK is where it's at.

By the way. ha, and you're gonna think im giving you a hard time.  but grind king trucks and krux trucks are NOT made in the same warehouse. not even close.  Grind King trucks are made in america, with top of the line materials.  That's why they are the more expensive than the rest.  You are paying for quality and american made.  Every else basically sends that shit to china, such as krux.

Thats why i've been skatin GK for years and years man.

Go with Krux, if you know what you're at and not grinding side-walks. Well then they should be lasting you a year and possibly more. Thats how it worked out with me.

I've been riding on a set of Destructo trucks for two years now and they haven't given me any problems at all.
