Females are capable of lying better than men imo. Reality is is that hte western world is not ready for a female president or any female of power for that matter. There will be a male president of "colour" (sorry, I don't know what other word to use right now) before there will be a female president.

well i dont think that a female pres woudl be really "better".....people are people with different characteristics and ethics. There could very well be good femail presidents and bad presidents, just as there are good and bad male presidents... AmyJ, actually there is living proof you are wrong. the Western World is perfectly ready for a female president. I know this because there is one right now: Angela Merkel of Germany. I hope she turns out as a positive influence for Germany...they need some good leadership right now.

Germany isn't part of the "Western World" is it? I thought Europe and all that shit across the Atlantic (or whatever ocean that is between us and Europe) was "Eastern". Anyways, maybe my geography is off, but what I was getting at is for us, in North America at least, it's a mans world where politics are concerned. I know that in Gemrnay and a few other places, like Argentina I believe, do have females in power. And I'm not saying it WON't happen, but the likelihood that it'll happen in say the next ten years imo is very slim

amy, all of Europe and and North America is considered the "western world". Europe has always been the "Western World" since before the first explorers landed here. Also, with regards to the USA, our next elections will most likely see two opposing women: Hillary Clinton of the Democrats and Condolisa Rice of the Republicans. This is what the rumour is, anyways. Unfortunately, i sure as hell wont be voting for Clinton...I cant stand her. I really am not too fond of Rice either...so I will be voting 3rd party....it has nothing to do with gender either...i was already planning of voting 3rd party for awhile now. In American politics we have recently seen several notable women..so its not completely devoid of female representation. I mean there are numerous women as senators and representatives and there are many in appointed positions. One reason why there might not be many women in office is that not many women are driven to enter the political arena.

Learn something new everyday...stay in school...lol In Canada, the one or two women who've had upper most positions in any facet of the 3 tiers have made complete fools of themselves in the eyes of voters. The men haven't done and aren't doing any better mind you, but in comparison to the US, we have virtually no women who will rise above more than being backcenchers or MP's in their ridings. The only woman of note right now would be Belinda Stronach, but after the last vote, which resulted in a minority government, she deserted her party for another and that doesn't sit well with many people. The kicker is that the party she left is probably the one who will end up as the minority government come January 23rd when we go back to vote again. I find it interesting that woman generally shy away from polictics, yet ask us our opinions on politics and we can't shut up half the time. You'd think with all that talk and opinion, we'd put it to use.

Canada isnt superior in every way to the USA afterall....(what a shame) anyways, yes..i think it is interesting why more women dont pursue politics. There must be a reason. I just cant seem to think of one at the moment.....perhaps sixgun or Vaughan has an idea. They always seem to have ideas..haha.

Ha, OK, since you asked. Hmmmm, well, for starters, we have no way of knowing who, how or when this girl's going to pop up and be a Pres. So we shouldn't be too pessimistic. Though looking at either Rice or Clinton one would think, "uhh, well that's nice... but let's stick with the men." Sheesssh, the those two chicks are scary no matter what their sex is. Another thing we have to remember, I think, is that these people are chosen to lead the same old party first so they're really going to be more of the same before they even get a chance at running for Pres. If we do get a female, she'll probably just be a puppet for a bunch of power-hungry grey-haired men anyway. She'd just be the skin... or the skirt as it were. So all in all, though the change of sex would be pleasing to the eyes and hears, I don't think we can expect the politics to change all that much with her. I think we should except the same garbage unless we the people start VOTING.... a feat much greater than seeing a female (or even Black or Hispanic person) for prez. But as I've said before, if you really want to change who leads our Western democratic world, then get right into local politics and work you're way steadily upwards. Start at you community center, run for the school board, run for city councillor, run for mayor, run for MP, run run run... and at the same time you might want to be known for other things as well.... a famous company you may have started, a TV show or movie you were on, music you've made, lives you've saved, tricks you've landed.... etc. We've all seen a lot more celebrities squeezing their way into federal politics these days, most of them have been idiots, mind you and they only won because their rivals were bigger idiots. But the next celeb might not be such an idiot. Do you have any idea how many famillies in America want Oprah to be the next Prez, damn dudes, A LOT I'll tell you. She just doesn't want to and I don't blame her, look at the crap politicians have to go through. Amy J, you might want to think about heading there, you're still young. And even if you didn't decide or have the chance to get all the way to the top; the things you would do on the way up would be well worth the effort. Things would still change greatly because of the work you'd be doing. More women would step forward too, which is more the point. Hmmmm, I've written this kind of stuff be for, let me see if I've still got it.....ah here we are: Posted some time last year...: " ...You can also get into politics at a very local level. That's where most of the change is going to happen in the next century. When more people realize that they can change things, fairy big things, in their neighborhoods, the more will do it. When lots of people like us get into community work, in perhaps their community centers or city councils and win smaller elections and such, some of us will get to higher and higher places by using the very system that's been fucking them around. When that happens, you'll see some real world wide changes, positive ones, ones motivated by the people's needs and not necessarily cash and oil all the time. Think Nelson Mandela, but all over the place. Even the USA! The problem is, that all the old baddies, they're just THAT! They're OLD. "They" are the exact same guys that have been here, in power, for thousands of years, and they usually don't get into power democratically, it's usually more like financially or through family. Any way, that trend, that status quote we suffer, begins to change when REAL DEMOCRACY is put into play. And this happens best and most purely, and most clearly, at first, LOCALLY. This is really the first time since maybe the days of the cave man that we've been able to technically take over kings and queens without these horrible civil wars, death and destruction. Unfortunately this is also the time when these kings and queens have gotten SO bad and irresponsible that we are going to have to take over and try and steer us back on track or this ship's hittin' the storm and going down once and for all, back to the cave man we go! So with that said, I'd say we need to vote AND get directly involved, more so than we have been in the past. " Hope that helps. Ha ha, maybe Sixgun has something better. I'm running short on time at the moment. Thanks Aras

Oh, and on a similar note, since what you're essentially talking about is a chance for a new direction in politics; I'll include another old buried post of mine written last year, from... What Can We Do? http://skateboardvillage.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2313 The movement in the 60s during Vietnam was a great start to what you are talking about. Until everyone had to get jobs and have kids. And 40 years later, we, the children of that generation, have to do something again. The Iraq war should be a good back drop this time. Point is, there will be an uprising again, you keep watching. But what kind? It can't be a hippie kind. It served it's purpose then and was even fun but won't work now unfortunately. We're just too fucked up now to wear whatever and do whatever and fuck whoever. Mainly, we are afraid of what people think. It started in the early 80s I think. Anyway, I mean this generation is suffering from the "Man" way more now. It shows up when you really think of what we have to go through every day. Over consumption is at an all time high! Buy this buy that! Mental pollution and that whole thing. That kind of barrage effects even the strongest of us. People and groups of people who would have most likely been content with a simple happy life in the hills, now feel like they need to have all this stuff. We are caught in a bind, without material and power and good looks we have no say, mostly because no one listens to us or takes what we have said seriously. But by the time you attain all this money, are your opinions still the same? And if we chose to stick to our hearts and do what we want with our lives we may inspire some to follow and help make things a little better, but all the while throwing a way the chance to make a forever bigger difference with the larger finances it takes to do things around here these days. In short I'll say this: The next movement for progressive change will only really happen on Wall Street, the MEDIA and in the Government, sadly it won't be on the impoverished streets. The scary thing to us should be that you don't see too many hippies along Wall Street, in the Government offices or on TV. If you're talking about stopping wars, reducing poverty, saving the children, feeding the hungry, stopping the spread of HIV, legalizing the weed, curbing gun use, saying no to nukes, demanding better health care for the poor, lowering tuition fees, saving the forests, saving the ocean, saving the air...saving our LIVES, then you certainly DO NOT want THOSE guys in there, DO you? Look at what "they" have done already! So no more "THEY" talk, please. Let's get some of US in there. You know that word infiltration? I always seem to end up using it when talking about any of this kind of shit. Now, some of you might not agree with everything Michael Moore has to say. But he's a perfect example of the kind of infiltration that must take place in the MEDIA for mass change to occur in this techno era. The next thing that has to happen however is a younger, cooler, better looking Michael in order to get the point to all the too-cool-for-school dummies. It's very important cause there's a lot of dummies that are on the fence cause they don't know what's really going on around them. And I'm talking about the people who vote based on what most people say or on just plain looks. These people need their favorite pop singer or soap actress to say something cool or revolutionary before they sort of get it. But don't ever make fun of the dummies. That's a mistake, since a revolution needs as many as it can get. (And even then it's always going to be in some kind of jeopardy.) This revolution, in whatever form it takes, will rely HEAVILY on the MEDIA element more than ever before. You can already see that happening, so it's definitely on. But it's gotta be kept up constantly it seems to me, there's lots of short attention spans out there as you know. And a lot of "learned helplessness", you are right, thank you. I really think we've gone from the old days of Bongos to the modern high-stakes, big-money game of Blockbusters ( And I don't mean the dvd rental corp.) The new modern way of protest are good films and documentaries. Anti-war movies have to be just as cool as Rambo. Eating healthy has to be just and quick cheep and easy as Mc Dicks. An electric or Hydrogen car has to make the same noisy sound and go as fast as the latest 8 cylinder SUV. These days, a hippie, has to have money and look like he's on the way to meet the President at the White House. It's sad, but here we are.

swazi_man: are you said that white males as our nation's presidents have worked for the past 200 years. i entirely disagree. our last at least 5 presidents have been terrible. Clinton, both Bush's, Regan, Carter.... they all have made poor choices and were weak leaders. But i dont think that women are necessarily the answer. as i have stated before, individuals are individuals. women and men do differ, but i dont think that having women as leaders are going to make things better. they will make mistakes too...just different kinds of mistakes. We need leaders that our outside of the "ring". By the "ring", i am referring to the Kennedys, the Bushs, the Clintons, the Kerrys....all of these guys are groomed by corporate America. We need some new blood to be real leaders....

This is the truth. What do you think our enemies would do if there were a female in office and was going all emotional? I think that they would try and get on her good side and ask for forgiveness, eventhough their advice would point in the other direction. If the female were to be in a bad mood and the enemy took advantage of that... I dont know where our great nation would be. -Crawl

Having someone elected in office simply because of the color of their skin and the presence or absence of a penis is racist and ignorant. Anyone who seriously thinks that someone should be elected to the office of president because of those two qualities definately needs to take their head of their a$$hole. and in that endeavor, i can be of service....

All I have to say is one name....there is a well respected nation....did have a female that was running things...and was well respected and is heralded as a force that helped turn a nation around (by some)..... You guys just make me laugh - c'mon - guess what country?? ENGLAND!!!!! Wake up! And really if one of you talk about that silly figurehead Elizabeth I'll slap you......her name was Margaret Thatcher......and no she was not a president....some people have something called a "Prime Minister" which in essence for simplicity's sake is identical to the role of president. You don't believe me - check it out.... http://www.time.com/time/time100/leaders/profile/thatcher.html Man - take a history course or something.

okay. so i think that we need to get the female preisdent and a "colour" president out of the way. both need to happen soon, especially before gorge bush kills us all with a nuclear bomb! lol. but seriously, i think that one of the best choices for president on the next ballet would be condaliza rice. or even oprea winfrey (altho i am not saying she would be the best.). but the whole thing about women going to ruin the country is completely immoral. and that is that! muah-haha! *SMILES*

ok, im glad you have such enthusiasmm for having a femail president... but come on... condaliza rice? she disowned her own heritage... and she is a bitch. oprea winfrey? i dont know about you but i dont want her to come into power, have her say "hey guess what... you are going to get back double your tax return" and then when we get it say "sorry guys but we made a mistake... we need it back" or have her try and solve our personal problems while giving a statement as to why she did something

I'm not american so my opinion doesn't really matter but I'm still gonna say it. I do not think that a difference of gender can really change anything, isn't more who exactly is elected rather than what's below the belt.
