so is the board flipping too high? what exactly is happening? are you landing in front of it, behind it, to the side of it? the important part to remember about almost all flip tricks is that the movement is all in the lower body. your upper body does not need to be twisting or really moving in any way, except vertically. a big problem is that people end up twisting their shoulders either one way or another. make sure to keep your shoulders square with the board. what helped me to learn was i held on to an overhead bar and took all my weight off the board. this way i could practice landing without the fear of falling. most of the time when someone isnt landing a trick, their body is afraid of falling so it doesnt want to land on the board. you have fight this natural reaction. also, its a bad habit to try landing with only one foot. you should always strive to put both feet on the board, even it if flips halfway. starting bad habits is really bad. i hope this helped...cheers

This is how I do it: - First put my back foot in the center of the tail and put my front foot near the bolts adding a little slant. -Then approximate where you want to land and flick with your back foot first then your front foot while jumping forward. For first timers you might want to start it off slow and quick before adding a nice big stylish one.

yeah, but the key is to not throw your foot to the side. it only takes a subtle movement to get lots of rotation, plus trwing your foot hard makes you twist (at least for me). i find that sliding my foot up then a little flick of my ankle can get tons of rotation. but my problem is that the board lands in front of me and my front foot lands over the rear trucks. i already tried not sliding my foot up, but then i dont get much height on my ollie and when i flick my foot the board doesnt get its full rotation. help?

you are pushing your foot out too much and changing your balance. i used to do that too. its a hard habit to break. lean forward a bit more (by forward i mean towards your lead foot, not towards the side of the deck) it takes practice to get the right balance between flicking the board and getting ollie height. personally, i found that watching other skaters do kickflips allowed me to do way better...like anything, you improve when you hang out with people that are better than yourself.

hey. i've been trying to learn how to kickflip or heelflip, i keep loosing balance when i heelflip so thats out of the question for now. i can't seem get my board to spin. i've watched my friends do it, watched trick tips online and tried different stances. i put my back near the tip of the tail and my front foot near the nose at an angle so i can give it a toe flip. i just can seem to get it to spin. is it my grip tape, shoes or should i try a new stance? help plz!

i have 2 problems kickflipping. 1: i cant get in the stance quick enough before i get too close to a ledge or rail. 2: i get in the air and it only ever spins about 90 degrees or 180. when i do get the whole flip, i land diagonal behind the board.

im screwed up here

I can easily do both kickflips and heelflips no problem and I personally like the heelflip a lot better.  The thing about the heelflip thats so cool is that your foot doesn't have to be almost off the board so you can easily bring it back on top of board to land it.  This is why I do heelflip grind combos because you land on your board quicker to hit the rail.

HEAL FLIP:  To get lots of higth and rotation try this, when you pop the ollie bring your lead foot up, with the heal of your foot almost touching the knee of your back leg then when the board is almost verticle kick not down but out and only enough to keep your balance when landing on the board.

is gravitate your ollies so you get time to do them try them in the grass or get some soft trucks
i learned mine by practicing my ollies
hoped that helped

heres my problem when i do get a good rotation, which si most of the time i either land on the board with my feet too close together or to far on the nose so i fall forwards and stop, or my front foot is on fine and my back foot is on jsut by the heel so my heel is on the board and my toes are touching the ground which stops me form moving. My other problem is i get a very slight rotation where the nose stays in the same place and the board rotates about 15 degrees, jsut enoguh to make my back foot land completely off. My last problem is when i get a perfect flip and no rotation around i suck ym feet up and when i go down the catch the board my feet hit the board and it shoots the board out behind me, this fuckin sucks.

yeah i agree with him, heelflips you can catch 100 times higher then kickflips, i learned a heelflip before a kickflip!
