Lets just say living off 6 hours of sleep is starting to take it's toll on me.  I don't think I've had more than that in over 4 months now.  Work has just kicked in again, so I'm that typical weekend warrior.  I usually put 400-500km on my car on any given weekend, but this past weekend was a little more.  Thank God I didn't blow 1,000km or I'd have to get my 2nd oil change this month.

Why you ask?  Why drive so much just to stand around and take a photo?  It's the fact that I'm out there, still enjoying the snow.  It's people like Paul Welters who gives his all every time I go with him.  It's the feeling of adrenaline while watching people push the level of snowboarding to new heights.  No photographer is in this game for the money, but I can tell you right now, money would be a nice thing right about now.

I know I should have stayed inside and worked on my submissions, but there was 10cm of fresh snow on the ground... IT'S APRIL!  So what do you think I did today...

Another one of these things are overdue.  So apparantly Shap went to Vegas and apparantly he came second.  Pretty good for a Canadian to beat out some of those crazy Americans.
Well, yesterday I took the bail of the season and cased on a FS 3 knocking my chin on my knee, chipping my front teeth and getting a nice little concussion.  Oh well, it was fun and then I went home.  Boy was I ever glad there were leftover T3s with Codine to use up.
So I felt bad about my snowboarding skills and decided to blow 2 grand on some photography equipment.  I bought a 17-40mm F4L series lens, a PW transmitter and 2x PW receivers.  I am happy again.

I went shooting today for the first time in over 40 days and I feel horrible.  I WANT MY CAMERA BACK.  Thanks Mr. Shapiro for lending me this one for a bit (Canon D30 3MP Camera).

Alright, it's been over a month since I sent my camera to be repaired and I decided that it's a good idea to give them a call to see whats up.  Well, after a good 20 minutes they finally locate my camera, unrepaired.  So I'm thinking to myself, why did I just send them money to have them almost loose my camera.  So I ask them when will it be ready for me because Vegas is just around the corner.  They told me that it would be ready a week after they get the money from me for the repair.  That's when I loose it.  I sent them the money Dec 21st.  It's f*cking Jan 15th! f*ck this shi*t, I quit.

Sometimes, words can become so powerful that you begin to loose sight of what you are trying to say; the English language becomes so complex and you begin to stray off from the meaning and core of what is truly being said.  Being that this is only another blog on another website, I have therefore realized that it is not about the careful arrangement of vowels and constants to make a harmonious tone and a remarkable read, but rather it is only to be a short message derived from and encompassing the only thing that I have obsessed over for past 8 years – snowboarding.
However, I do find that if I make this shi*t hard to read, less people will read it and quit their bitching.  So piss off, because my blogs are going to be long, and you can’t stop me.  Oh ya, thanks Cam for making me realize this.
Having said this, it is still a snowboarding website and I do feel some sort of responsibility to have some sort of snowboarding related text.  And yes, I’m obsessed with snowboarding, so here it is.

To everyone's immense surprise, GrouseMountain received 29cm of snow last night.  And though this is not nearly enough to open some decent runs, or build the park that it is famous for, it is a start and we, as a collective, can only continue to hold our breath as the weather shifts back and from rain to snow, hopping that Mother Nature has exhausted herself to the point in which this nasty prank of hers will soon fade so that Grouse can relinquish lost dreams of a better snow season and a better park.

People keep bitching about my blogs so I'll keep this one short.  Looks like I'm moving to Whistler on Feb 1st because the snow situation is shi*t. That's it, I'm done.

Snowboarding in the rain began to take its toll and I found myself looking to ulterior methods of solving my adrenaline addiction.  Minutes after Christmas dinner, I found myself rounding up the gear and sleeping bag in my car and booking it up to Whistler.  The long windy stretch can be lonely at 10pm on a Sunday night, so I stopped by and picked up Mike on the way.  Wrong move, we got stuck behind an accident for 2 hours.
Monday morning was among the better days of the season.  Mike, Sara and I went and tracked out some freshies under 7th heaven and found ourselves smiling all day long.  The next 6 days were spent on Whistler riding the "Rosa Family Lap".  This run was epic, and never tracked.  Word of mouth spread quickly and by Sunday, people were flocking out of nowhere to hit the freshies.  Barry, Etienne, Aby and I found our way over to some cliffs and got out kicks there.
And of course, New Years Eve.  The first annual GLC party kicked off well with a flat down box setup and a 1.5:1 girl to guy ratio.  Ya, they know how to do it.
Nick and I valiantly tried to get the bon fire going with some gasoline but to no avail.  Finally, after getting the beast blazing, the neighbour flipped out and the beast was put to rest.  Another time Nick, another time.
About an hour later, I found myself stumbling to another house party with a live band.  Blah blah 5 bottles of champaigne everywhere blah blah and off to bed.
I'm tired of writting this blog and I'm off to Whistler again tomorrow with Paul.  Rant over.

And you thought the last blog was long...

It's Christmas Eve and definetly doesn't feel like christmas.  If words could only express how hard it's been raining lately then you'd understand.  But I don't think they can.
Though rain does bring 30lbs soaking wet pants and does demolish our snow base, it still brings a smile to my face.  The snow is soft, the rock gaps are still doable, and only die hards are up snowboarding.  This is the culture of snowboarding, the underground crew of people who's lives revolve around an obsession.  This passion that struck us all at a young age is still with us today, and though some strive for physical excellence, others just enjoy the time spent alone with their board.
I challenge every one of you to stop hitting the park, just for the majority of the day, and do runs.  Find those 20ft rock gaps over knolls in which you don't know if your gonna clear it or not.  Find those soft steeper pitches and learn Euro carves.  Find out what snowboarding originally was, and only then will you learn to appreciate snowboarding, no matter the conditions, weather, or snowbase.

I think I just passed through my Emo stage.  Yesterday was drizzling rain up at Grouse, but that won't stop a die hard like Barry Hartman and a patchless Gonzo from going up.
After baning my knee a couple times, we decided that park just wasn't fun anymore.  So after some careful deliberations over some pizza, we decided that taking runs were the way to go.
A little bit of rain on top of a lot of ice makes for some really fun Euro Carves.  If you don't know what a Euro Carve is, go watch some people laughing and screaming while doing huge S turns down the run and their body's are almost touching the snow.  I'm over my Emo stage, and done my rant.

So after Mr. Shapiro was kind enough to be a hero and lend me a camera until mine's fixed, I still found myself a bit emo.  Maybe it was the Bright Eyes, or maybe it was the fact that I didn't have a car?  Well, I tried the latter of the two, and bought a car.  My stoke meter went way up because now I got wheels.  I payed $500 for this car - 1988 Ford Escort, 2 door, Maroon - and it came with an alarm system that sounds like a light saber when I deactivate it.  So unbelievable cool sounding, and I'm not being sarcastic.
So I'll check back in tomorrow after work to see if I'm still emo or not.  Until then, I'll be listening to Bright Eyes, and hopefully a bit of Air while I'm at it.

So I have a new hero in my life.  His name is Robert Shapiro.  Yes, Aaron's dad.  Well, since my camera is flying over Canada to butt f*ck nowhere, he felt that I was still in need of a camera for the time being.  So, being the most generous person in the entire world, he lent me one of his!  And the best part about it, it's Canon.  And better yet, has an EF mount, enabling the use of my lenses!  It's a digital SLR with 3mp, which isn't the best, but it's sure as hell enough to  keep me flowing Atomic with images and keep me staying to my contract.  Thanks Mr. Shapiro for saving my life.
I'm still listening to Bright Eyes, not because I'm emo, but because I found out that they're a dope band.

Well, today's the day I'm sending my camera out to bum f*ck nowhere to get it fixed.  Turns out that Photographic Solutions Inc. made a faulty sensor swab, and I was the one to get stuck with it.  So, needless to say, I have a nice big scratch accross my sensor that makes a nice black line in the images.  Sweet deal guys!  It's only going to be under $1,000 to fix it.
On a lighter note, two pairs of gloves showed up with my name on them so I can actually keep my hands warm this season.  But I'd rather give up those gloves, my snowboard and the rest of my gear not to have to go through this damn proccess with Canon.  f*ck!  I got a better idea.  I'm going to get all emo and listen to Bright Eyes for the rest of the day.  That'll keep me happy for sure.

That time again, another one of these blogger things.  So being a social butterfly at a comp isn't always the best thing in the world.  I forgot that the sun sets super early at the paradise park and pretty much lost all the light when I started shooting.  That and everyone pretty much left when I busted out the camera.  Oh well, you live you learn.  Keetley's showing up was kinda cool.  It's been a while since grouse has seen that big guy, and I'm sure he'll come back one of these days.  Wait, he's a skid?  Meh, I'll make him come back.
For all of you who didn't know, Geoff Stinston killed it and won the "shred of the day" award.  The kid's like 14ish?  Which brings me to my next point.  I'm becoming quite good at this whole "guesstimation" thing as exams are wrapping up.  Last final is on friday.

Yep, so it's time again for one of those blog type deal things.  The snow fell, the batteries were charged and a small list of warm up handrails were shot and in the bag.  Last night was my first good night's sleep in over 5 days and I gotta say, it feels pretty damn good.  I met Scarth of the first time on Sunday.  Super cool guy and I learned a bunch just from watching him and his style.

Posted a bunch of photos too.  Comment and crits are dope so fire away.
