April Stars
It seems but only yesterday these stars
that blink at me from April skies
were shining in your blue gray eyes,
and several funny little scars
I have upon my patched up heart
are paining me again tonight
with memories of April starlight
when you and I were not apart.
April stars are brighter now
than I have seen for many years.
Silver beams enlarge, somehow;
a silver fire, so it appears...
Perhaps I really should allow
for April stars seen through these tears.

I'm over it. Get over it.
1 p.m., you say that you can’t commit to this.
You sealed the deal with a stolen kiss.
2:37 p.m., I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling.
I can’t describe the way I’m feeling.
5:19 p.m., supper is just a plaything tonight.
Mom says everything will be all right.
9:32 p.m., running eyeliner clashes w/ my tear stained face.
I’m sure you’ll never be able to replace.
1:11 a.m., I lay awake…
God, what a heartache…
4 a.m., I’m awakened by your voice,
but you’re the one who left by choice.
8:46 a.m., I tiptoe down the stairs.
It may be true that time repairs.
11:42 a.m., your things are thrown into a trashcan.
I remember when all the lies began.
1:21 p.m., my green eyes stare into another’s of blue.
I may just be able to subdue.
1:24 p.m., those eyes of blue take a seat next to me.
It was hard...letting go...but all the good you've done I can finally see.

I'm better off without you, David McMahon.

A Vow to Die For
Worry cuts through this silence,
another night alone underneath the oak.
I'll wear a tattered white dress
spotted by crimson & wait for you.
Let me take to my lips a poison lined chalice.
"Oh beautiful lover, honor & keep me. Through sickness & health, may this bright star never burn out. Until death do we part I shall ever love and trust thee."
Sing to me your promising vows as you're away
holding her on this crisp, cool evening.
Take to heart these words I solemnly pray-
"Thy Lord above, mend my heart & may he see my love is forever greater than she could ever profess."
