So its beena a while since the last update and the film is making more progress now. The last ramp that you saw our friend Rob attempt to jump off of has been reduced to a 6ft launch ramp now and new blueprints have been planned out of the runways and rollins. October 5 and 6th will be the date we start building the 8ft launch ramp and the landing banks for it. Soon after that the invites will go out and pros will be here to rip these to minis apart!
In the meantime though heres a little behind the scenes look at the first day of test runs of the Scoff Project. WHos knows you might even be able to see Rob crash this time....
The Scoff Project is a documentry dvd of the building of a mini-mega ramp. The Scoff project is a 8ft launch ramp with a 13ft rollin. This trailer is from the first day of test runs or run I should say. We weren't sure if the tranny was quite right and we needed to find the gap so our buddy rob was going to launch from it to flatground! Check it out!

The party got started a little late and for those of you who didn't know. We were planning on renting out the whole outskirt side of the skatepark and throw our party there. But soon to our dismay, the city told us just 1 week before that we couldn't unless we provided $1000000 proof of liabilty insurance for the event! Come to find out it would cost us average $600 us dollars to do that!
So we went around it. The party had been put off long enough, we weren't going to cancel it. So we held it in the parking lot out of the back of a trunk! haha It was the most ghetto thing we have ever done. With an unbrella sticking out of our trunk giving away free swag and cranking music all day! It wasn't so bad.
We had over 150 skaters show up over the day. Celebrating the new release of the Scoff website, skating, and slapping stickers all over their boards. We were giving away free swag ever hour also! Inlcuding magazines, stickers, shades, gatorade (it was 86 degrees outside), water, key chains, shirts, skatelaces and more!!
We had kids doing all sorts of things like sticker slap the ice cream truck without getting caught!
Then some kids who weren't so sly tryed to slap to many on and got caught by the ice cream man. Not good. After a few hours of handing out all that free swag and chilling with our local scene, we brought out the tv and played videos for a few hrs. It was like kindergarden all over again. All the kids instanly sat down in rows before the telavision in silence as we played all sorts of skate dvds.
Near the end we had an un announced competition. A progressive trick contest off the 8 stair. We had 4 entries. The game goes like this, each person gets 10 tries. You have to do the tricks on the list, after you complete one within the 10 tries you step up and go to a more difficult trick. Here was the list Ollie, 180 (either way), kickflip, heelflip. Matt one of the competing skaters injured his ankle doing the 180 and called out. Andy got stuck on trying to land the 180, he almost got it but his rotations were full. Christian and a kid nicknamede Momo, made it past and both got stuck on the heelflip.
So we changed it up and set up a new list, Treflip and if you got that then you had your pick of either doing a switch kick or a manual to ollie over the stairs. Christian landed the treflip on his 3rd try, Momo got stuck and could get it under his feet. So Christian won!
At the end of the day, everyone was tired and ready to hit the hay. We had a blast and know the people that came did also. If you haven't already make sure to check out the new Scoff website at www.scoffskateboarding.com Its new its fresh, it will keep you up to beat on Scoff Skatebaording and everything about us.
Thanks to the kid with the camrea who took all the photos. We appreciate it!

Interview with Ruben Najera
Questions and lifestyle photo by “Scoffman” Action shot by Sheyla V.
So before we get started are there any shout-outs you want to give? Definitely!!! All of my sponsors!! Jason at SCOFF skateboarding hell yea indestructible laces man!!!Mike G. at ) nice skate shoes, STRUGGLE skateboards, Lisa at Destructo & Speed Metal, Jason at Gripgum, Eric at OGIO, John at Thiesnuts hardware, Lisa at Peter Grimm, Dylan at olliepop, Scotty at Taildevil and Isaac at Cali Boardwear. I would also like to thank my beautiful lady Sheyla in which I adore and love. She supports me 100%. And my family of course no doubt!!!
So how did you come about to be on the Scoff team? Well I think it was an email I received from you back in the day. I believe I am one of the original riders. The concept was so rad and I had never seen anything like it. You truly have to get a pair of laces to see what I mean. It takes forever to tear through. It’s as if there’s some magic powers embodied within the laces.
How long have you been skateboarding for? About 7 years give or take.
What first got you into it?My cousin JC and some dude in high school that I used to watch skate.
Who did you look up to when you were first getting started?
Some local skateboarder they called “Q” that dude was so tech and was ollieing like 7 boards back in the day it was amazing to watch when I was younger.

What kinds of trouble do you and your buddies get into while skating? Have you ever been arrested before? Aww man hell yea. The Struggle guys and I have been through a lot. We are always running from the cops. Also way back in the day I remember getting tackled by an officer because we were running from him in a spot. Guess the guy thought we stole something. They ended up taking me and three other guys to jail; we sat in there the whole day until my friends mom bailed us out. They put us in one of those rooms where you can’t see through the mirror but they can see you, it was a trip. They put us in handcuffs and everything, threw us in the cop car.
What’s your favorite skatespot? Aww man, the black box park is buttery, I like skating downtown and the manual pads at Torrey pines. I still haven’t found a spot that I truly love though or I could consider my favorite because I really am into skating new stuff all the time. I get tired of spots fast I guess.
What is it that you love most about skateboarding? The feeling you get cruising the streets. And how it takes your mind off of everything else shi*tty going on in the world.
You told me before that your sort skipping from place to place right now and living out of your car sometimes. How’s that going for you, found a permanent place to stay yet? Yea actually I am back in my hometown right now been here for a little while now about a week or two id say. Things were hectic the last 4 months of my life though. Pretty much you could say I lived out of my car and at fast food for 120 days. Or cup of noodle if I got lucky and found a microwave. It was harsh I also got in two huge car wrecks during all this man I went through so much crap. My car caught on fire and I had to jump out the window when I was involved in an insane car wreck while driving on the 5 coming from . I had no car after that and resorted to public transportation in order to get to and from my job. Which meant major couch crashing and an even unhealthier diet? But you know what I learned more and got a real taste of the street life through those tough times man. And I had my skateboard the whole way through.
If you’d never pick up a skateboard, what would you be doing today? Dude I would be up to no good. Maybe I wouldn’t even be alive. I thank god for skateboarding. Because of skateboarding I kept my head straight, I even met my girlfriend through it. Through all my hard times it kept me alright. It kept me sane in an insane world. I can thank it for so much good in my life. It has taken me a lot of places and I never want to put it down. Skate for life man. SKATE FOR LIFE.

PRESS RELEASE TO BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY
Scoff Skateboarding brings their new and freshest face to the team, Doug Des Autels has now joined forces with Scoff, contributing his arsenal of tricks and technical mayhem.
“Doug is sure to be the newest powerhouse on the Scoff amateur team. We are pleased to have him with us and I know he will be a great addition to the team with his attitude, skills, and appetite to progress in skating.” Said Jason owner of Scoff.
Be sure to keep a look out for his part in the upcoming Scoff video "Progression" and his profile will be up on the new Scoff website with his interview and more, estimated to be up and running by March 5.
Saturday the 20th was the first test run of the Scoff Project. Rob our test skater signed the waiver agreement and we were off to the location. He scoped it out pumped the ramp some to get a feel for it and we went inside to watch a skate video to pump him up. The it was time we brought out the mattress pads for him to land on. After that I can't say much, we will be keeping the project some what hush during filming/documenting of it. Lets say though if it was a 6ft launch ramp it would be perfcet but at 8ft it was more like a quaterpipe. The tranny was to steep and shot him 10x10 in the air.
He didn't hit the ramp either bailed right at the top of the ramp, heres the only teaser we can give you guys right now.
He is still alive and alright. He'll be out for a few days. Once he recovers hes ready to hit it again. Some major changes will need to be done to the tranny before the next test run. Maybe 1-2 weeks till the next run.

Since this is our first blog on here reffering to the Scoff Project. I feel I will have to go throught the history with you all.
We came up with an idea "Wouldn't it be great to build the largest skate ramp in town?" ha And since that we have gather wood from a fellow super-intendent who practically provided us will all the plyood we neede to build this project and some. We were going to build a 8ft launch ramp with a rollin in height of 13-15ft and 2-3ft wide. We estimate you will hit the bottom between 20-30 mph and be shot at least 12ft high into the air.
We are planning on making a documentry of the building of the mini-mega ramp and show everything that all went into the thought about it. Expected to be released June 2007.
So let the construction began...
Just about to lay the ply
We would build the sections of the ramp and haul them out to the back where we had a levy to support roll-in.The walk was about 2 acres or just a about 1 football field length.
Top view of the ramp, with first part of the runway attached
Soon after building the next 2 runway peices we realized that they would be to skinny and need to widen them incase of speed wobbles became an issue. We don't want people getting thrown down hill slaming into theground. We want them getting thrown up the ramp! A week later we widen the runway another 1.5 ft - 2ft and started work on the roll-in.
Side view of ramp w/ the skinny runway
Now the roll-in was probally the trickiest and hardest part of this whole project, cause of it having to custom fit to the side and top of the levy and remain level.
The Roll-in underconstruction
We had to custom build every peice of ply to fit the levy the best we could and still go flush with the rest of the run. That was very difficult. When we finally got it built there was a small problem with it getting flush with the rest of the run and its started to rain and freeze over the night. So we had to bring the whole 12ft long roll-in back to the house to be rebuilt and worked on. After the freeze was easing off we took the tarp off the ramp and started back to work.
We got all the peices assmbled and connected, then work on making sure the rollin was flowing with the rest of the run. 2 days later its finshed. Not to you all we only spent $30 on this whole project so far!!! Next month we will overlap it with masonitte.
-Latest update-
So then after building it over a period of 3 weeks its done. The last day of assembling the ramp was the hardest. Mainly because the rollin (which is 12ft long) ran into some problems and we had to make sure it connected just right with the track. The roll-in under contruction
I even manage to loose control of it while moving it and slide half way down the hill. None the less I got quite a few slivers, scrapes and sore neck to boot. Well here you go the finall photos of the finished ramp. Along side the ramp - from ontp the levy.
Full view of the Scoff Project
Heres the roll-in view 13ft high
Expected test runs will happen this saturday. Rob a clovis local and friend of mine will be the brave soul to first launch from the ramp to FLAT! Yes you heard it, to flat! Why him and not me you ask...Well he has better health insurance. lol We are launching to flat to determine how large the gap is and then build the landing bank in that position for a true big air manueuver. Once the ramp is fully finished we will schedule a date and take the ramp apart and rebuild it all in hopefully one day. The whole day will be recorded and editied for the upcoming video(THE SCOFF PROJECT - Building a Monster), the next months will be used to capture footage of local and visiting skaters performing their own insane stunts and bails.
Also check out our website Scoff Skateboarding for an exclusive photo of the ramp and the builder and see how big it really is. Photo to be released on website by 1-18-07
